Congregational Relevance: The Trends, The Realities, The Choice (ONLINE)
Join Us Online for this 1-Hour Web Event for Lay Leaders and Religious Professionals
PRESENTERS: Hilary Allen, Innovation & Growth Lead, and Sean Neil-Barron, Ministerial Intern
You know the trends............. churches are shrinking.
You are feeling the realities......... leadership burnout, less resources, less depth.
Are you ready to take the story of the decline of the church and the irrelevance of it's place in society and put it on the shelf for a bit?
Step away from the fear of the 'end' to embrace the possibilities for congregational relevance that are in our communities and available to us in these times. We'll explore how relevant congregations are able to adapt to their contexts, trends and the deep yearnings of the human soul. It's not alway flashy and doesn't always involve getting rid of the organ.
In this workshop we will explore the trends and realities of congregational life and how a congregation rooted in being relevant can actually leverage their strengths for greater impact.
Just as Unitarian Universalism has adapted over the centuries, our congregations are well suited to be beacons of relevance today. Together we will let go of the story of decline and continue making the choices that set us on the path of relevance. The journey down the path of deeper relevance is not to be traveled alone, so we encourage as many of your leaders and staff to attend as is possible.
Given the limitations of a virtual experience, online events cannot offer the same time or opportunity for cross-congregational dialogue and team application as our in-person events. However, we promise an engaged learning experience. A half-day in-person version of this workshop will be offered on March 12 in Weston, MA.
LOCATION: Offered online as a 1 hour web-based event
You will need a computer with a camera and dependable internet access. For best hearing and viewing with a team, connect your computer to speakers and large monitor or projector. Online meeting information will be sent to you during the week before the event.
EVENT FEE: $25 for an individual or $50 for a team
While we know that not all individuals are in a position to pay these fees, since the learning is on behalf of the congregation, we assume that congregations will select and financially support participants to come. However, if these fees are prohibitive even to the congregation, please be in touch with us. We do not want cost to keep anyone away.
REGISTER NOW! (Deadline is March 15 or when we reach maximum capacity)
